The most beautiful beaches of the Dominican Republic

Let us start from Punta Cana Beach: here you will find kilometers of golden sand. Guests of all-inclusive resorts that overlook these beaches have free access and can practice all water sports that come to mind. There is also the Macao Beach, in Punta Cana, that has nothing to be jealous of: UNESCO defines it as one of the best beaches in the Caribbean. You can also take surfing lesson.

Do not miss the beaches of Cayo Levantado. The fact that you have to make an extra effort to reach Samana and hence the small island of Cayo Levantado is true but the effort is worth it. Here you will find a beautiful beach right next to a lush tropical forest, and you can also book excursions. If we go a step back in Samana, we find Playa Rincon, a beach nothing short of Cayo, as you will enjoy its jungle and love the idyllic coconut palms. It is a true paradise, very quiet, so if you want the hustle and bustle caused by the water sports you have to go elsewhere.

Playa Dorada is a part of Puerto Plata: here you can enjoy the classic resort experience with private access to the beach and all-inclusive packages. Also noteworthy is Sosua Beach, not because it is necessarily one of the most beautiful beaches of the Dominican Republic, but because it is very close to the city. So, for those looking to combine visiting the city and spending some time to the beach is the ideal destination. The beach here is U-shaped and is lined with lots of food stalls and souvenir shops.

Cabarete is entirely dedicated to surfing and is located in the northern part of the country. Full of affordable hotels, it is a viable alternative to the super mega resorts. If you are in the capital, however, you must go to Playa Boca Chica since it is nearby the city centre. Here there is also a beach surrounded by palm trees, full of life and movement, especially from the point of view of tourism.

Juan Dolio is the second most important beach west of Santo Domingo. It is a bit more sophisticated in Boca Chica, close enough to the capital to allow day trips and offers many resorts for overnight stay. Eagle Bay Beach, on the other hand, is dedicated to the adventurous types. Here tourism is almost unknown, the beaches are isolated, secluded and pristine. It offers miles of white sand and crystal clear water, but you will not find stalls or other services so you have to bring food from home. And to get there, you can either rent a boat in Cabo Roja or get a vehicle with four-wheel drive.
