Stunning beauty images of the Northern Lights

In 1621 the French scientist Pierre Gassendi decided to name the strange light phenomenon that was noticed in the sky as Aurora, that comes from the name of the Roman goddess of the dawn, and Borea, from the Greek name for the north wind. The mysterious Aurora Borealis had now received its name and the Northern Lights, as it is commonly known, when he made his appearance in the sky that did not go unnoticed. This bright celestial phenomenon that occurs in the upper atmosphere and observed particularly in the polar regions, both in the northern hemisphere and southern, called as Northern Lights and Southern Lights.

This phenomenon is one of the nicest that nature offers. A variety of colors and designs to sudden appearances and relatively quick transformations. The appearance of the saddle, although it is very rare in the Mediterranean countries, intrigued humans since ancient times and was known to the ancient Greeks.
