The construction of the tower was completed on April 10, 1858. The current clock tower erected as a part of Charles Barry’s design for a new palace, after the destruction of the old Palace of Westminster by fire on the evening of October 16, 1834. The tower is 96.3 meters tall and his four indicators are 55 meters away from the ground.
