Great South African travel destinations

One country that is enjoying a rapidly-growing reputation as a tourist destination is South Africa. With over nine million people visiting the Rainbow Nation every year, it’s no surprise to find that this country is enjoying something of a renaissance after its recent troubled history. And what South Africa can offer above most nations is an incredible diversity of landscapes. With monumental mountain ranges, exotic grasslands, luxuriant coastlines and a plethora of vibrant cities, it’s clear that South Africa is a real contender on the global tourism map.

So here’s a quick run down of some the nation’s highlights.

With over 2500 kilometres of remarkably smooth coastline that offers spectacular views across the Indian and Atlantic oceans, South Africa is a beach bum’s dream. Located just outside of Cape Town in the far south west of the country is the popular beach town of Muizenberg. Something of a surfer’s paradise, this offers beautiful windswept beaches, chic restaurants and fantastic surfing opportunties. The western cape also offers quaint fishing villages, the prospects of whale watching and a reputation for some world-class seafood.

South African cities are like nowhere else in the world. They feature a blend of the restlessly ambitious with a down-home, warm-hearted feel. Cape Town is a real treat for the South African first-timer. With the magnificent Table Mountain framing the buzzing metropolis, it’s a proudly multicultural place where everyone is made to feel welcome. And Johannesburg in the north east of the country is equally inviting. As the second largest city in Africa, it has something for everyone and is often considered the heart of the nation. Where else could you find the contrasting options of the sobering Apartheid Museum nestling just by the famous Gold City Reef casino that offers a great range of entertainment options.

Of course you can also access casinos that are highly reputable online if you feel the need to sit and relax somewhere quiet!
