Exploring the sights of Barcelona | Spain

Barcelona is a city of Spain, the capital of Catalonia, as well as the capital of the province and of the comarca of Barcelonès. With over a million and a half inhabitants is the second largest city in Spain, after the capital, Madrid. A preferred destination of many tourists, especially young people, the city offers a mix of culture, art, entertainment and fun. We will just indicate the most beautiful places to see, with the belief that the Catalan capital has much more to offer to those who decide to spend a vacation to its discovery.

Walking along the streets of Barcelona you have the opportunity to admire the beautiful works of architecture that characterize the city. The best-known work is certainly La Sagrada Familia, a Catholic basilica that is still under construction and a masterpiece of the architect Antoni Gaudi. For art lovers, the city definitely arouses great interest with the various museums among which we find the museum of the Fundació Joan Miró, Picasso Museum and the National Museum of Art of Catalonia.

For those who want to enjoy the panoramic view of Barcelona, you can’t miss a visit to Mount Montjuic, an old military fort that served to guard the entrance to Barcelona from the sea. From here you can admire the beautiful beaches of the capital that are another place to visit especially if you are there in the summer. Barcelona also has several parks, the most famous being the Forum Park.

The Monumental bullring is one of the most important bullrings and is located inside the Bullfighting Museum of Barcelona. For those who like walking, a must-do is a walk along the Ramblas, Barcelona’s famous boulevard that begins near Catalunya square and ends at the foot of the statue of Christopher Columbus. While you walk on the Ramblas you can make a stop at the Boqueria market, the covered food market that is Barcelona’s most famous and perhaps the most famous in Europe too.

For those who have children, they should try the Tibidabo amusement park, Parc Zoològic, the Maritime Museum and the Aquarium, one of the largest aquariums in Europe. Last but not the least, another interesting place is the Parc de la Ciutadella, the ideal place to get away from the busy city. It stands on the site of the citadel that was built for the World Exposition of 1888. At the park you can see the Arc de Triomf, on top of which angels play the horn and offer garlands.
