4 Things You Should Do When Visiting South Korea

South Korea is slowly becoming a popular holiday destination, especially for those who love K-pop music and K-dramas or have just fallen in love with this East Asian nation. But, if you’re planning to spend your vacation in South Korea, don’t just throw your clothes in a bag and hop on a plane; to make the most of your trip, create an itinerary that lets you enjoy the best of what the country has to offer. Here are some ideas to help you get started:

Check out popular attractions

You’ve probably heard a lot about South Korea’s most famous attractions, so why not put them on the top of your list? Some of these must-see places include Namsan Tower (where you can find thousands of locks that couples have put in place to signify their love), Gangnam District (home to fantastic clubs and the inspiration of Psy’s “Gangnam Style”) and the Kimchi Museum.

Visit beautiful and historic palaces

South Korea has a rich history and interesting architecture, which mean you’ll come upon majestic and awe-inspiring structures during your holiday. One such example is Gyeongbokgung Palace, which was the base of the Joseon dynasty and has become a major tourist destination. You should also check out Deoksugung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace and Changgyeonggung Palace.

Treat your taste buds to street food

You’ll definitely go hungry after exploring numerous attractions, but don’t just head off to the nearest McDonald’s. Instead, visit local markets and street stalls and take a look at the mouthwatering treats they offer, such as bundegi (boiled or steamed silkworm larvae), gimbap (Korean sushi) and tteokbokki (rice cakes in spicy sauce).

Head off to the beaches

South Korea may not be known as a tropical paradise, but it does have several gorgeous beaches that you can hang out in when you need some sand and surf. Check out Haeundae in Busan,  Gyeongpodae in Gangwon and Eurwangi in Incheon. Put these activities on your itinerary and be on your way to a fun and unforgettable South Korean trip!
